Transportation
According to SustainLane.com, a survey of the top 50 most populous cities in the nation was performed in terms of the urban sustainability. The report analyzes 16 areas of urban sustainability, including water supply. Atlanta ranked 45th in Metro street congestion and 42nd in Air Quality. I WILL WORK to make our public transportation systems more effective and dependable.
SOLUTION
We must make those who live, work, and play in Atlanta less car dependent. By improving the safety on our streets and by increasing the number of bike and pedestrian lanes and sidewalks, we will provide viable alternatives for transportation yielding numerous benefits, including better health and environmental outcomes. We will improve the conditions of our sidewalks so that they are more pedestrian friendly.
I believe in the Beltline and realize the valuable resource that it will provide to Atlanta's communities. I WILL WORK to make sure the implementation of the Beltline provides the residents' desires and appropriately incorporates feedback from residents, businesses and the community. In addition, we must ensure the same problems plaguing MARTA do not transcend to the Beltline.
